Evaluation of Food Handler Certification Program

The York Region food safety team recently conducted an evaluation of our food handler certification program. The research involved the use of pre-post surveys via program participants to determine the extent of knowledge, attitude and behavioural change surrounding food safety. The research was recently shared with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (Ontario Branch) annual conference, in addition to the Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion's research symposium earlier in 2011. We have also been advised that the Journal for Food Safety has also accepted the research for publication and it will likely be published in 2012.
